Front Cover Images

As I only have my dominant image and the mod symbol on my front cover, I need to put one more image on. For this I am going to use the Rolling Stone logo for the 'Rolling Stones Grrr Album Review' article.

Mod Symbol

Other than my dominant image, I am using the Mod Symbol that was introduced by The Who although it was originally the Royal Air Force symbol.

I could not find this symbol to take a picture of and so, because we have to take every image we use ourselves, I made my own on paint.

Anchorage and Contents

Due to my Audience Research results, my main article is going to be ’40 Years of Quadrophenia’. Because of this, I am going to use my other options that I had for my anchorage and contents. These will include:

Title: Font Choices

For my title font, my original choice was 'Biondi', however this didn't create the image I wanted it to.

So I used UrbanFonts and found a different font that suited my magazine genre more and this is what I am going to use:

I have already edited this photo on photoshop. I used the 'Magenetic Lasso Tool' to remove the background then I went around the edges with a soft rounded eraser.

I am including questions such as:

• Which name for a Classic Rock magazine do you prefer?
• Examples of Dominant Image camera shots
• What tone should the image be in? (colour or black and white?)
• How much would you pay for a MONTHLY magazine?
• What colour scheme do you prefer?
• What article would you be most likely to read?

I am going to ask at least 10 people to answer my questionnaire.

Creating my School Magazine Contents Page

After finishing my front cover 2nd period today, I began creating my contents page. In order to do so, I drafted a list of possible 'articles' to include. This helped as the planning allowed me to get straight on and do as much as I could in that lesson.

AS Media Studies

During my AS Media Studies course, I will be creating a preliminary front cover and contents page of a school/college magazine. Although this task is not worth any marks, 15 marks will be deducted from the final grade if the task is not completed.
   The main coursework piece will be to construct the front cover, contents page and double page spread article of a new music magazine. All research, planning and the evaluation of the finished product will be necessary in order to gain high marks.
